It might sound "disgusting" to many people but eating your own feces is a very good way to go green. Feces is 97% nutrients leaving your body so it is technically healthier then most foods you eat. Wrap it up in a tortilla and chow down and the brown!

20-30 years from now when there's nothing left and the only fish that can be eaten have to be from hundreds of miles away and slowly become a delicacy more than a common diet, I hope China, Japan and other Asian countries are happy for being the majority that wiped out entire species and habitats. The only reason this issue has become a global concern is due to the media hyped doomsday predictions that could impact on our survival. People only seem to care about their survival, not about the environment around them. My concern lies with the environmental impact foremost.

@PainTrain87 I did try to mention that geothermal has limited application, hence the where applicable. Fossil fuels, like some RESs aren't that efficient, and most are limited by the Carnot cycle. However, you're right, there is always a need for a reliable base power supply, RESs are usually intermittent. Hydro power plants, like the swiss one, is a good alternative but limited again. And, whilst not renewable, I think fusion and fission power probably remains our best bet.

Any efficient fossil fuel that provides similar emissions?...compared to renewables? Fossil fuels are our best source of energy for the time being. Forcing them to go away now, while having nothing to replace them would cause economic, and societal collapse.

@iamben2214 The IPCC reports. You should know that the IPCC is a government run, and therefore, politically motivated group. The reports that they have put out are not purely science. The IPCC is biased and can not be a trusted scientific source. I'm glad that you recognize that economics and politics play into the issue of climate change. Many alarmists refute this fact, exposing their short-sighted nature.

My issue isn't with climate change - referring to weather - but with environmental damage caused by human activity. Also, a matter of semantics, but being sustainable is a balancing act between societal, economic, political, and environmental issues. So, being fully sustainable is not the same as zero environmental harm.

As evidence suggesting that certain emissions cause wide spread climate change is hardly conclusive, I'd merely be speculating by giving an answer (assuming your including production). As for efficiency, AST isn't too bad, solar panels are getting better, but perhaps geothermal power (where applicable) offers the most promise. Can you suggest an efficient fossil fuel that provides similar emissions or environmental impact?

My point with needing more research is that there are politicians and activists that say we can't wait to do something, and that we must act now. Politicians like to play the carbon emissions game, while the activists like to play the full sustainability, zero harm to the environment game. Both are ridiculous.

This has ALWAYS been good practice, and are not things to do in response to the global warming scare movement. We should be practicing these things to begin with. There is no question that we are living through global climate change. It's visable in the disappearing glaciers that have existed for millions of years, and the drastic reduction of ice in the polar regions. The Republican EPA recently put Polar Bears on the Endangered Species list because of this problem, but they are looking for ways to not have to take any action on it. I'm curious to know if it has occured to anyone to consider requesting that "The Big Three" use this bail out to combine their resources, knowlege and efforts to develop and manufacture eco-friendly vehicles. These guys know what is needed and now is the time. Sorry but the fact that they brought their demo's instead of the private jets this time doesn't prove to me that anything has changed but change is what we all need and not only in the U.S. Don't waste billions on more of the same.

I really appreciate updates from the Obama administration and more importantly updates throughout this period of transition which is a little unprecedented. I can not remember any administration being so open to the American people and disseminating timely and coordinated information about important policies and initiatives of the administration. Its a job well done from me and keep up the good work.

To the Energy & Environment Team, President Elect Obama has stated that one of his goals as gasoline prices drop is to prevent the rise in consumption again. When the price was high, consumption fell, lowering CO2 emissions and reducing carbon output. Question: Would it be possible to devise a gasoline and diesel fuel rationing system, such as we had during WWII? Obviously, it wouldn't be graft-free, but it may help. Jim Meyer in Mich.

We need to start making Solar Panels in this Country, this will create jobs. To encourage the American people to use these panels, a tax break would be great. I have looked into Solar panels and cannot afford to buy them otherwise I would have already had them. Thanks!
