Videomicrograph with a Nikon Coolpix 885 at 3x zoom, through Olympus microscope 1,000x oil immersion, Hoffman Modulation Contrast optics. Many small microorganisms cluster around Cyanobacterial filaments. Some, like ciliates come for the oxygen. I am not sure what attracted this Dinoflagellate. Dinoflagellates have two flagella, oriented at right angles to each other. If you look closely, you can see the flagella frantically waving in the videomicrograph.
